No suspects in fatal shooting of teenage girl at Castilian Apartments

Orange County law enforcement are still in search of suspects in a fatal shooting at Castilian Apartments that claimed the life of an 17-year-old female.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, as of Monday morning, authorities had no suspects in the shooting of 18-year-old Shanaya Charles, who was found with a gunshot wound on Friday, January 7, at the apartments, which are located at 1664 Holden Avenue.

Charles was transported to the hospital and later died of her injuries.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing.

Friends and family have taken to social media to mourn the loss of Charles, who turned 17 years old just this past November.

“Shanaya was very smart, beautiful, kindhearted, and an outgoing person. Shanaya enjoyed listening to music, doing hair, and makeup. Most importantly, Shanaya loved life and had a bright future,” reads a post from a GoFundMe established for the Charles family.

If you or anyone you know has any information regarding this investigation, please contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
