The Howard University Golf Team was honored by Orange County officials on Tuesday monring.
The team, who is visiting the county as part of spring training for the upcoming season, was recognized during Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Orange County Board of County Commissioners.
The Howard golf team was established in 2020 after a donation from NBA superstar Stephen Curry, who has a well-documented love of the game.
Coached by director Sam Puryear, the team is comprised of student athletes from around the nation and world, including Chicago, West Virginia, New York and Uganda.
While the team is visiting Orange County for spring training, it has plans to play at popular golf course around the county, including Dubsdread and Champions Gate, among others.
The team is always looking for support in the form of donations. To help support these golfers and their goals, visit the Howard University Golf Endowed Fund website.
