Separate accidents that tied up roads in Orange and Osceola counties this morning resulted in the deaths of at least two motorists.
The first accident took place in in the westbound lanes of State Road 528 in Orange County around 8:45 a.m. this morning. According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a dump truck was hauling gravel and traveling westbound in the center lane of the highway. A 2020 Porche SUV being driven by a 36-year-old woman from Winter Park was also traveling westbound in the right lane of the highway.
For unknown reasons, the dump truck traveled into the right lane and struck the left side of the Porche before leaving the roadway, striking a pole, and overturning. The driver of the dump truck, a 26-year-old man from Kissimmee, was killed on the scene. The driver of the Porche drove herself to the hospital with minor injuries.
The second crash took place near the intersection of U.S. 192 and Arthur J. Gallagher Boulevard. According to police, that accident involves a semi-truck and a vehicle and has claimed the life of at least one person.
