Blue-green algae bloom caution issued for Lake Sue

Officials with the Florida Department of Health in Orange County have issued a health caution for the presence of blue-green algae in Lake Sue.

The alert comes in light of a water sample taken from a visit on Monday, March 21 to the lake, which is located near Leu Gardens in north Orlando.

Residents are advised not to drink, swim, wade, or use personal watercraft in the lake, as well as to avoid getting water in the eyes, nose, or mouth.

Blue-green algae blooms can impact human health and ecosystems, including fish and other aquatic animals. Read additional information on potential health effects of algal blooms. Report symptoms from exposure to a harmful algal bloom or any aquatic toxin to the Florida Poison Information Center by calling 1-800-222-1222 to speak to a poison specialist immediately.
