64-year-old Orlando man struck, killed by car while crossing Silver Star Road

A 64-year-old Orlando man was struck and killed as he was crossing Silver Star Road this morning.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place near the intersection of Silver Star Road and Hiawassee Road this morning around 6:30 a.m.

The man began walking across Silver Star Road, from north to south while traffic was stopped for a red light, but failed to take notice of a sedan being driven by a 60-year-old Ocoee man in the outside travel lane.

The pedestrian walked into the path of the sedan and the driver was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision, according to the FHP report. The man was transported to Orlando Health, where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
