The popular swan boats have reopened at Lake Eola after a multi-week effort to upgrade the dock and amenities.
The city celebrated the grand opening of the new dock and amenities on Friday morning at the dock site, which is located near the amphitheater off Rosalind Avenue.
The swan boats were shut down at the end of February in an effort to restore and reconstruct the dock. The new dock was expanded to accommodate the upgraded swan boat fleet. The dock has also been upgraded with modern materials and flotation devices.
While the swan boats were out of service, the city’s parks and recreation staff painted some of the boars to reflect some of the different breeds found at the park.
Lake Eola is home to five of the seven known breeds of swan.
