Two men arrested after chasing down and shooting at vehicle, killing passenger in crash

Two men are facing second degree murder charges after allegedly following a vehicle, shooting at it and running it off the road, resulting in the death of one of its occupants.

On Tuesday, Orange County Sheriff’s Office homicide investigators arrested Danny Sivongxay and Christian Javier Rivera in connection to the death of Leshell Gumbs, who was gunned down last month.

Gumbs, who turned 32 in March, was riding as a passenger in a vehicle on Sunday, April 17, around 3:30 a.m., while another vehicle was in pursuit.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol investigation into the incident, Gumbs and the driver of the vehicle were followed by and shot at by the occupants of the other vehicle.

That vehicle smashed into the vehicle in which Gumbs was riding, causing it to veer off the road and crash.

Sivongxay and Rivera, who are both 22 years old, were tied to the vehicle and are each facing a second degree murder charge.

According to Orange County Jail records, Sivongxay was given a $150,000 bond and Rivera’s bond was set at $250,000.
