Volunteers needed for Lake Howell cleanup this weekend

Volunteers are needed for an upcoming Lake Howell clean up event this weekend.

The Central Florida RECON group will host the cleanup session on Saturday, May 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The group will jump off at 1183 Paseo del Mar in Casselberry.

The group hopes to remove all cans, bottles, and other polystyrene materials that have polluted the lake. Event organizers will have at least six kayaks open to reserve, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own if possible.

The group will also have a full selection of equipment to use. For those that are not inclined to go onto the water, shoreline volunteers are welcome and will be able to assist cleaning the lake front.

For more information or to sign up for future events, visit the Central Florida RECON Facebook page.
