An Orlando woman was killed in a car accident Saturday evening after she turned into the path of a Mustang speeding through a yellow light on Silver Star Road.
The accident took place on Saturday, May 7, around 6:51 p.m. at the intersection of Silver Star Road and Powers Drive.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a 57-year-old Orlando woman was driving a 2012 Honda Accord eastbound on Silver Star Road in the left turn lane.
The woman attempted to make a left turn on a yellow light in order to travel north onto Powers Drive. When she did so, she turned into the path of a 2019 Ford Mustang being driven by a 31-year-old Ocoee man.
According to the report, the Mustang was traveling at a higher rate of speed before it struck and redirected the Accord into an electrical pole and a parked Infiniti sedan, which was unoccupied.
The woman was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased.
The passenger in her vehicle, a 32-year-old Orlando man, sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Mustang received minor injuries from the crash.
