Dolores Ebbert Gribben

Dolores Ebbert Gribben, 91, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2022 in Orlando, FL. She was born in Wheeling, WV, on April 6, 1931, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Fahey Ebbert.

Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert (Bob) Gribben and seven sisters. Surviving are her sons Rob Gribben and wife, Donna, of Christiansburg, VA, Tom Gribben and wife, Liz, of Orlando, FL, and Tim Gribben of Arlington, VA. At the age of 51 she went back to school, earned an L.P.N. degree and then worked as a nurse until she retired. When she was 74, she was quoted in the Roanoke Times as saying that the two most important things she learned in life were “Don’t take life too seriously,” and “Live each day as if it’s your last.” She instilled this philosophy in her children along with her love for volunteer service and especially helping those in need. Dolores was devoted to her family, enjoyed spending time with friends and always ready to give a hug. For entertainment, she loved playing games, doing jigsaw puzzles and watching old movies.

She was a devout member of the Catholic Church and spent many years as a member of the Catholic Daughters.

The family will celebrate her life with a funeral mass at the chapel at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on June 25, in Wheeling, WV with interment to follow.
