Orlando-area police offering $50 gift cards in exchange for firearms

Police throughout the Orlando area will host an upcoming firearm exchange event in which $50 gift cards will be offered for guns.

The Winter Park Police Department, Altamonte Springs Police Department, and Maitland Police Department are joining up to host a Kicks 4 Guns firearm exchange on Thursday, May 19, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Horatio Avenue and Maitland Avenue.

No IDs are required and no questions will be asked of those dropping off guns.

Those who attend are asked to leave unloaded guns in the vehicle trunk, drive through, and stay behind the wheel while officers assist and safely remove the firearms.

Authorities say that all firearms will be destroyed.
