City officials shared progress this week on the Downtown Loop, the 8.5 mile multimodal path currently under construction throughout the city.
New construction along Anderson Street, near Greenwood Cemetery, began this week and is the latest piece of the multi-mile loop that will connect a dozen neighborhoods and multiple walking paths, including the Orlando Urban Trail and Lake Underhill Paths, to name a couple.
The new paths will offer residents car-free access to shopping, dining, entertainment, parks, offices and more.
Work continues on the south side of Anderson Street from Summerlin Avenue to the Lake Underhill Path.
According to city officials, there are currently three, ongoing construction projects that will be completed by early 2023 and that will close most of the remaining gaps in the planned loop.
Those include the Orlando Urban Trail Gap project, Phase 4 of the Gertrude’s Walk project, and the Downtown Connector Trail, which will complete the segment from Summerlin Avenue to Lake Underhill Path, on the south side of Anderson Street.
