Charles Franklin Bowlby Jr.

Mr. Bowlby passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Vanderbilt Bedford hospital in Shelbyville.

Charles was born on Tuesday, August 13, 1940 in Gary, Indiana to the late Charles Bowlby Sr. and Dorothy M. Wixon Bowlby. He was a high school graduate and proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a truck driver for many years and retired from Penski truck lines. Mr. Bowlby also attended Grace Baptist church in Shelbyville.

On November 29, 1979 he married Sandra Lambert Bowlby and they shared 37 wonderful years together before her passing in 2017.

He is survived by his children Rebecca Thompson of Texas, Karl Bowlby of Sumter, South Carolina, Steven Adcock of Shelbyville, Joyce Sprague of Texas, Jeffrey Adcock of Murfreesboro and Robert Adcock of Nevada.

Mr. Bowlby is also survived by one sister Kathleen Donahue of Portage, Indiana, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son Kelly Bowlby in 2021, one sister, Susie Koritko and one grandson: Nathan.

Funeral Services for Charles Franklin Bowlby Jr., age 81 of Shelbyville will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 3:00 pm from the chapel of Gowen-Smith with Brother Bobby McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Cothran Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 2:00 pm until the time of service.
