Multiple organizations and city officials will host Memorial Day ceremonies this week and weekend to honor veterans across Orange County.
The city of Orlando will host its Memorial Day Ceremony on Friday, May 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, which is located at 1603 Greenwood Street in Orlando. All are invited to the commemoration ceremony to honor and remember veterans, military service members, and those who lost their lives in service to the nation.
Honorable Legacy, an organization that helps honor and pay tribute to the dead, will visit four cemeteries to honor deceased veterans with a vigil, bouquet, and U.S. cemetery flag. The event will take place on Monday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The group will visit Dr. Phillips Cemetery, Eatonville Memorial Gardens, Evergreen Cemetery, and Rose Hill Cemetery. The city of Winter Garden will host its community ceremony on Monday, May 30, from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, which is located at 420 S Park Avenue in Winter Garden. The event will feature a roll call of veterans, placement of wreaths, and patriotic songs to honor and respect those who gave their lives. Featured speakers will include a United States Navy veteran and Winter Garden City Commissioner Ron Mueller.
Mount Peace Cemetery, which is located at 775 East 10th Street in St. Cloud, will host a remembrance ceremony on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The group will lay wreaths on the graves of fallen soldiers.
