Maria Inez Chiantello Marshall

In loving memory of Maria Inez Chiantello Marshall, wife, daughter, sister, great aunt, godmother, niece, cousin, amazing friend and dog mom to Bella. She is survived by her husband Sammy Dean, her two parents Tom and Bonnie Chiantello, and sister Anita Tuccillo.

Maria, 52, was born in South Bend, Indiana, on Oct. 10, 1969, and grew up in Elkhart, Indiana.

Maria lived in various cities – to name a few, Columbus, Georgia, Waterbury, Connecticut, Mishawaka, Indiana, and Milan, Italy. She went to Northside Elementary in Mishawaka and then entered the Jimtown School System where she met her sister friend Candice Gum Hales. She went on to Indiana University to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She worked in various industries in the Valparaiso, Indiana, area at which time she developed a daughter-like relationship with Jaqueline Moss. After being childhood friends since eighth grade and remaining in touch through the years with Sammy Dean, she reunited with him, the love of her life, moved to Orlando and married him in October 2017.

Throughout her life Maria made an impact on everybody she met and the room lit up as soon as she walked in it. She had an unforgettable, infectious laugh. To know Maria was to love her, she put everyone first, and the world is better because she was in it. Enduring a year and a half of a courageous battle with cancer, Maria passed on May 24, 2022, in the evening surrounded by her loving family. God gained another angel.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 6, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, IN 46545 with visitation 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church prior to the mass. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood, Michigan, at a later date. Hahn Funeral Home is assisting with handling the final arrangements.
