Residents encouraged to sign up for Citizens Police Academy

The Orlando Police Department is encouraging all residents to consider joining the next 5-week session of its Citizens Police Academy.

The five-week course aims to foster relationships between the police department and the community in a classroom environment. This year’s class will cover a variety of topics including criminal investigations, crime center operations, DUI investigations, and police training, among others.

Classes take place for five consecutive Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. beginning on July 14 at Orlando Police Headquarters, which is located at 1250 West South Street.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old to participate. The course is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.
