A 26-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision with a vehicle that was going the wrong direction on I-4.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place just after midnight on Friday, June 3 near I-4 mile marker 110 in Volusia County.
Police say a 22-year-old Deltona woman was driving westbound in the center eastbound lane in a 2019 Nissan Sentra when she crashed into a 2017 Ford Focus being driven by a 26-year-old man from Brazil.
Due to the impact, the Focus was run off the roadway and the left side of the vehicle struck the guardrail. The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene, according to FHP.
The Deltona woman and a 24-year-old Brazil woman riding as a passenger in the Focus were transported as trauma alerts to a local hospital. Both the female driver of the Sentra and the passenger in the Focus are still in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
