John Thomas Reeves

John Thomas “Tom” Reeves passed away at his residence in Orlando, Florida on May 16, 2022.

Tom was born in Albany, Georgia on September 19, 1955, to the late William Thomas Reeves and Mamie Shiver Reeves. He grew up in nearby Newton, Georgia and was a graduate of Baker Academy and member of Newton Baptist Church. Tom graduated from the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy in 1978.

He was employed by the Medical Center of Central Georgia for most of his career and retired as Director of Pharmacy Services in 2007.

Tom enjoyed reminiscing about his days as a guitar player in a rock and roll band. He was an avid Georgia football fan and was ecstatic about the championship win this year. He would never turn down a Chick-fil-A sandwich and was rarely seen without a Diet Coke in his hand. Tom was a hardcore Trekkie; he enjoyed collecting Star Trek memorabilia. He cherished watching his children participate in athletics- particularly basketball- and even coached them at various stages in their youth. Tom loved Maine Coon cats, especially his silver tabby, Izzy, who was his constant companion.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Susan Dixon Reeves; children, Jessica Reeves, Justin Reeves (Britt); grandchildren, Ainsley Reeves, Grayson Reeves; sisters, Dale Sellers Sandiford (Charles), Jan Reeves Masters; his “bonus” daughter, Kate Anderson, and many beloved extended family members and friends.
