One person is dead and multiple others were injured after a vehicle flipped while transporting six people after trying to change lanes on State Road 520 in Orange County.
The accident took place around the highway’s intersection with Nova Road on Saturday, June 4 at 5:08 a.m.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 48-year-old Rockledge man was driving a 2001 Lexus SUV eastbound on State Road 520 on the inside lane when he attempted to change lanes.
When he did so, the front right portion of the Lexus struck the rear left side of a 2018 Nissan Rogue being driven by a 60-year-old woman from Noel.
After the impact, the Lexus veered off the roadway and began overturning.
Three of the vehicle’s six occupants, who were all from Palm Bay, were tossed from the Lexus, including a 44-year-old woman who was killed.
The driver sustained critical injuries and an 18-year-old occupant received serious injuries, while the other three occupants received minor injuries, according to FHP.
The occupants of the Nissan Rogue were uninjured.
