Mark grew up in Oslo, Minnesota. He attended the University of North Dakota graduating in Business Administration and Accounting. As a CPA, he spent his working career in accounting and finance, including corporate controller and CFO roles in Grand Forks as well as in Orlando where he lived for the past fifteen years and eventually retired.
Mark was a lifelong fan of the University of North Dakota’s (UND) sports teams. Mark pitched for UND’s Fighting Sioux baseball team, and was Team Captain. After college, he met and married Jill Tischart, and had son Jack. During the years they lived in Grand Forks, they enjoyed season tickets to UND’s hockey and football games and could be found tailgating prior to the football games. In the summer, Mark enjoyed soft-pitch softball, amateur baseball, rounds of golf, and riding his jet ski on weekends at Maple Lake. When moving to Orlando in 2006, he liked the idea of being able to golf year-round, and kept up a friendly competition with his son, Jack.
Mark had a sharp wit, was excellent at crossword puzzles, thoroughly enjoyed pull-tabs, and could hold his own on the dance floor.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jill Mondry; loved son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Rachel Mondry of Edina, MN; beloved mother Joanne Mondry of Grand Forks, ND; brother Gary (Ann) Mondry of Wichita, KS; sister, Debbie (Rick) Jacobson of Wahpeton, ND; sister-in-law, Kristi Mondry of Boise, ID; brother-in-law, Mark Decker of Grand Forks, ND; nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Cyril “Bud” Mondry; brother, David Mondry and sister, Brenda Decker.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Orlando Florida on June 18, 2022.
