The Florida Department of Health in Orange County has issued an algae bloom health alert for both Lake Ivanhoe and Lake Sue in response to a sample taken late last month.
According to the FDOH, the sample was taken on May 26 and showed the presence of harmful toxins in both lakes.
The public is advised to not drink, swim, wade, or use water craft in the waters where bloom is visible. Avoid eating fish caught from either lake.
If you see an algal bloom at either lake, or at another local lake, contact the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) at 855-305-3903 or report the bloom online.
