A construction company based out of South Florida will be at the helm of a nearly $16 million project to widen State Road 528 from Narcoossee Road to State Road 417.
On Monday, June 13, Ranger Construction Industries, Inc. was awarded the project for their bid of $15,844,749 to widen SR 528. The business has a headquarters in Medley, Florida, with offices and projects across the state of Florida.
The widening project calls for the outside lane of the highway to be widened to accommodate an additional general use travel lane in the eastbound direction. Additionally, the inside lane must be widened to accommodate the inside shoulder width.
The project also calls for the creation of a two-lane exit at SR 417, according to construction records.
The contract for the project was originally awarded in July 2021 before it fell through and the project was put out for bid once again in January 2022.
In total, four companies submitted bids to Orange County officials for consideration, with Ranger beating out the next closest bid by over $1 million. That bid came from SEMA Construction Incorporated, followed by a bid from Hubbarb Construction Company.
The last bid was submitted by Sacyr Construction, which is based in Miami, for over $18.6 million.
