Florida officials are calling on hunters and trappers across the state to participate in a new challenge to help lower the number of Burmese pythons in the Everglades.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is hosting the 2022 Florida Python Challenge later this summer in order to remove the invasive species that they say is threatening the state’s ecological systems.

All those seeking to participate are required to complete online training, understand the rules, and pass a quiz with at least an 84%. The general rules can be accessed through the Florida Python Challenge website. The rules are designed to align with area regulations and to ensure the safety of each participant, as well as the environment.

To register to participate, or to donate to the cause, visit the Florida Python Challenge website.
