Orange County Sheriffs Office (OCSO) patrol vehicle

A 37-year-old Orlando man was killed after he experienced a medical episode while driving and crashed his vehicle into a pond on Wednesday evening.

The incident took place around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 near the intersection of Kaley Street and Rio Grande Drive.

According to a report from the Florida highway patrol, the man was traveling westbound on Kaley Street when he experienced a medical episode.

After the episode, the man lost control of the vehicle and struck a parked Orange County Sheriff’s Office cruiser before striking a curb and a chain link fence and rolling down an embankment into a retention pond.

The driver was removed by an OCSO deputy and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation and add dive team is currently working to remove the vehicle from the pond.
