An Orlando motorcyclist was seriously injured after he crashed into an Orange County Sheriff’s Office patrol car that was responding to an emergency on Wednesday evening.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, an OCSO deputy was traveling eastbound on State Road 408 when he exited at the ramp to Goldenrod Road. The deputy had his emergency lights activated and was responding to an emergency call.
The deputy approached a red traffic light and entered the intersection at the same time as a 2021 Yamaha Motorcycle being driven by a 21-year-old Orlando man. The motorcycle hit the left side of the police cruiser, according to the report.
The rider was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The officer was transported to Baldwin Park Emergency Room with minor injuries.
