Avelo Airlines opens at MCO, expects to create 150 jobs over next year

Avelo Airlines has opened a new base out of the Orlando International Airport that will serve southern Connecticut, Washington D.C., and Wilmington, North Carolina.

The new airline made the announcement earlier this week and expects to create up to 150 jobs over the next year. Over the next five years, Avelo hopes to create 500 jobs in the area.

The airline is offering introductory one-way fares starting at $59 for some of their flights.

The Orlando base is the third for the company, which operates two other bases in Los Angeles and New Haven, Connecticut. According to the company, the new base is expected to generate more than $250 million in short-term economic impact in Greater Orlando and top $1 billion in regional economic impact annually within the next five years. Within that same time, the company says it expects to create up to 500 jobs.
