Gilbert Eugene Shugg

Gilbert Eugene Shugg of Christmas Florida passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 29, 2022. He was born in Greensburg Indiana to Elmer G. Shugg and Catherine Barclay Shugg (Sorenson).

Gilbert enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served honorably. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a Machinist and Tool and Die Maker contributing to the Apollo Program as well as aerospace, defense and cutting-edge medical technology. He was always willing to share his knowledge and he mentored many young people as they began their careers.

He enjoyed animals, spending time with family, woodworking, fishing and the outdoors. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of family, generosity and loyalty. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Gilbert married the love of his life Shirley Shaffer Shugg (deceased) on October 23, 1956. Together they had six children Michael Shugg (wife Julie), Terri Gray (husband Jim), Steven Shugg (deceased)(wife Nancy), Monica Roberts, Heather Anderson (husband Gary) and Christopher Shugg (wife Dawn). He leaves behind eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren He is also survived by brother Kenneth Shugg (wife Carla) and sisters Elma Shugg and JoAnne Williams (husband Bob).

The family will hold a private remembrance. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando
