Bento Cafe, which operates 25 restaurants around the state of Florida, was forced to temporarily close its location in downtown Orlando last week after a health inspector cited multiple health code violations, including the presence of nearly two dozen roaches.
According to a report from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the restaurant, which is located at 121 S Orange Avenue, was closed down on Tuesday, July 5, after a health inspector cited nine health code violations.
The health inspector cited at least three high priority violations, including the presence of 23 live roaches found in various places around the restaurant, including the sushi make table and prep table.
The restaurant was permitted to reopen the following day, Wednesday, July 6, after only three violations remained.
Bento is currently expanding its presence in Central Florida, with its tenth location under construction at Flamingo Crossings in Winter Garden. Currently, Bento operates five restaurants in Orlando.
