A 65-year-old woman was killed on Monday morning after her vehicle was struck head-on while traveling along an Osceola County road.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the female driver from Hobe Sound was traveling westbound in a 2020 Mercedes GLC300 on State Road 60 on Monday, July 18.

At around 6:24 a.m., a 31-year-old New Port Richey man in a 2013 Ford F-350 was driving eastbound on SR 60, approaching Peavine Road. For unknown reasons, the pickup truck crossed over the yellow line and entered the westbound lane, striking the Mercedes head-on.

The Hobe Sound woman was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The New Port Richey driver was not transported to the hospital and remained on scene. Two of the passengers in his vehicle were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation, according to FHP.
