A woman was killed and a man was seriously injured after they were both struck by a vehicle while they were crossing a road in Orange County.

The 61-year-old woman from Geneva and a 52-year-old man from Clayton, Delaware, had been walking from east to west across the northbound lanes of State Road 535 (Apopka Vineland Road) just past midnight on Tuesday, July 19, when they were struck by a 2007 Honda CRV being driven by a 64-year-old Orlando woman.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, the pedestrians were not walking in a marked crosswalk at the time.

The 61-year-old woman was transported to the Orlando Health Dr. Phillips Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The man was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
