Less than 24 hours after announcing a scheduled visit to Orlando, White House officials reported that President Joseph Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 and will go into quarantine.

On Thursday, the White House released a statement indicating that President Biden had tested positive for COVID-19, just two days after previously testing negative.

“[The President] is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms,” reads the statement.

President Biden is currently taking Paxlovid, which is an antiviral medication developed by Pfizer that is part of the combination of drugs used to treat COVID-19.

The president will isolate himself at the White House, where he will carry out all of his duties and participate in Zoom meetings.

Once he tests negative, he will return to in-person work, according to the White House.

“Out of an abundance of transparency, the White House will provide a daily update on the President’s status as he continues to carry out the full duties of the office while in isolation,” reads the statement.

The President’s last COVID-19 test on Tuesday produced a negative result, according to White House officials.

The negative test comes just one day after the White House had announced the president’s visit to Orlando, and one week after Vice President Kamala Harris visited the area to speak at an engagement.
