Niall Connolly
63, passed away peacefully July 7, 2022 in Winter Park, FL from complications of ALS.
Niall was born in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland in 1959 and was raised on the Point Road in nearby Dundalk, County Louth. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin 1980 with a degree in Economics and Finance. He worked as a financial controller in both the U.K. and the U.S., retiring earlier this year after several years as Vice President/CFO of MLC Theming in Orlando, FL.
Over the years he built a sound business as a thoroughbred horse owner/breeder, delighting in watching his horses run—and often win—at several notable racetracks in the eastern U.S.
In 2019, Niall became a U.S. citizen, giving him dual citizenship in the U.S. and Ireland.
Niall was predeceased by his parents Paul and Maureen, and brothers Kevin and Barry.
He will be sadly missed with love by his wife Julia and son Giles of Winter Park, FL, daughter Elena of New York, NY; and stepson Benson Hughes and family of Asheville, NC as well as brother Paul in Portugal, brothers Brendan and Ciarán in Dundalk, sister Loretto Byrne, in Newry, Northern Ireland, extended family relatives, and a wide circle of friends in the U.S. and his home town of Dundalk.
A Celebration of Niall’s life will be held Saturday, July 23 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in the Florida Room at Historic Dubsdread, 549 W Par Street, Orlando, FL 32804.
