A 75-year-old pedestrian was killed while she was trying to cross U.S. Highway 1 in Brevard County this morning.
The fatal accident took place at around 5:22 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, near in the intersection of U.S. Hwy 1 and Canaveral Groves Boulevard, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian, a 75-year-old woman from West Palm Beach, was attempting to walk from east to west across the southbound lanes of the highway when she was struck by a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 that was being driven by a 66-year-old man from Mims.
The woman was not walking in a marked crosswalk, according to FHP.
The woman was pronounced deceased on the scene and the crash is currently under investigation.
