Winter Park police dispel rumors of abduction at Baldwin Park

The Winter Park Police Department provided clarification to dispel false rumors of an abduction at Lake Baldwin Park.

On Tuesday, July 26, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Winter Park police responded to a call at Lake Baldwin Park in reference to a missing 60-year-old female who could not be located by her spouse.

Shortly after officers arrived on the scene, the female was contacted via cellphone and reunited with her husband after a “brief period,” according to police.

Authorities say that a message posted on a social media app yesterday cited the incident as an abduction.

“This incident was not an abduction. There is no further information to report,” reads a WPPD social media post.

Multiple law enforcement agencies have been quick to dispel rumors of incidents in recent weeks. Last weekend, two separate incidents caused panic at the Florida Mall and Universal Studios. After the incidents, police said the panic at the Florida Mall was caused by fireworks and the scene at Universal Orlando was caused by a fight between juveniles.
