Mary C. Long, aged 92 passed Saturday, July 23, 2022. Born in Live Oak, Florida December 21, 1929 to parents, Bertha Harrell and Thomas Rufus McNair. Mary married her sweetheart, George D. Long, April 2, 1950. They were married forty-eight years until his passing in1998.
Mary worked in Orlando as a volunteer, “Pink Lady”, at Orlando Memorial, then as an elementary substitute teacher with Orange County Schools. She found her best occupation working 32 years with Orange County School Food Services at Shenandoah Elementary and Walker Junior High as Cafeteria Manager, a job she loved.
Mary enjoyed Sewing; making clothes for her children, crocheting baby hats for newborns, tending the rose and veggie garden, and best of all fishing. She and George fished Lake Conway, Orlando and the ocean at Bonita Springs, Florida.
She thoroughly enjoyed time with family, longtime friends and neighbors, watching mystery movies and cheerful Christmas music. She best loved time with her family, especially her grandson.
Mary is survived by; daughter, Carol A. Ferdinand, Medford Oregon; daughter, Sandra L. Webb, Orlando Florida, son, Robert M. Long, Sun City, Florida, grandson, Collin R. Long, Tampa, Florida. She is preceded in death by; Husband, George Day Long, her parents; Bertha Jewel McNair and Thomas Rufus McNair, and brothers; Doyle and Audrey and sisters; Olean, Beatrice, Joanne, and Carol Jean.
