A pedestrian who was standing in a roadway was struck and killed in Osceola County early this morning.
The incident took place around 5:41 a.m. on Saturday morning on Poinciana Parkway.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2016 Kia Optima being driven by a 56-year-old woman was traveling on the northbound entrance ramp to Poinciana Parkway from Marigold Avenue.
The pedestrian, whose identity has not been confirmed, was standing in the roadway, not in a marked crosswalk.
The front of the Optima struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The driver and a passenger in the vehicle, a 54-year-old Kissimmee man, were uninjured and remained on the scene.
A witness at the scene says another vehicle ran over the pedestrian while they were laying in the roadway before speeding off. The witness could not provide a description of the vehicle on account of how dark it was.
