One dead after car split from accident on Colonial Drive

One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Colonial Drive that left a car split in half.

Orlando Police Department officers responded to a single vehicle crash at East Colonial Drive and Shine Avenue at 3:17 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Upon arrival, police discovered a vehicle had been split in two, with debris scattered all across the road.

Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where one was pronounced deceased.

East Colonial Drive was closed for hours on Thursday morning as crews cleared the road. The car was towed from the scene on two separate tow trucks.
