Winnie Eulner, age 94, passed away July 22, 2022 in Orlando, Florida. Winnie and her twin sister were born in Brooklyn, NY on May 21, 1928. Her sister preceded her in death, as did her only brother. She is a four time cancer survivor and shared her story with many needing hope.
She attended John Adams High School and began working in Manhattan at the age of 16. She was a devout Catholic, always cheerful, and always grateful for her blessings. Winnie was one who took great joy in helping others. A very creative person, she put her talents to work as a 4-H Leader for many years in Valley Stream, NY prior to moving to FL, and has dear friends from that experience still to this day.
After retiring and moving to FL in 1995, she became a volunteer at the large gift shop at the Basilica of Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine and continued there for about 25 years. One of the greatest treasures in her life were the people she would meet while doing her volunteer work at the Shrine. She loved learning about their lives and their needs so she could include them in her daily prayers. She made sure that people had the religious items they needed, even if it meant providing them herself from her own stash at home. She was a great story-teller with a memory like a steel trap even to the end. She kept a journal of the people she would meet and always made sure to record instances of their prayers being answered.
She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and the Holy Rosary, praying all 20 mysteries daily. Her devotions were many and she was faithful to them all. She attended mass and received Our Lord in communion every morning in the Shrine’s chapel, then spent time before the Blessed Sacrament. After that, she loved giving impromptu tours of the Shrine, always highlighting the statue of St. Joseph speaking to the child Jesus on the workbench, and making sure everyone left with a photo of the Saint and even the Pope.
She raised 2 sons, Kevin and Mark, and was their fierce protector and unwavering supporter.
She was married for 55 years to her loving husband, Arthur,. The happy couple made many memories on a variety of cruise ships, making friends everywhere they went.
She was loved dearly by her 2 sons, their spouses, and her two grandsons, as well as innumerable friends from across the globe.
