Family mourn 23-year-old Orlando man killed in shooting

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has identified a 23-year-old man that was shot and killed in west Orlando on Tuesday night.

Dean Demetress Mitchell was found suffering from gunshots by OCSO deputies on Tuesday, August 9, at around 7:32 p.m., after police received calls regarding a shooting in the 1800 block of Baywood Avenue.

Mitchell was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Friends and family have taken to social media to mourn the loss of Mitchell, who would have turned 24 this November.

“You were everything to my kids. You were my best friend,” reads a social media post from Mitchell’s sister, Sadia.

Detectives are currently in the early stages of their investigation, and no suspect information is available at this time. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
