Nellie S. Ambler passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 to be with Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. Her last place of residence was in Orlando, Florida. She was 89 years old.
Nellie was born on October 27, 1932 to Everett and Lula Snider. In May 1949, She graduated first in her class at Wytheville High School, Wytheville Virginia. She attended Berea College in Berea Kentucky.
She worked, and retired, for the New York State Police Troop B (Ray Brook, NY), for over 29 years. During those years she a loyal member of the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA). She enjoyed reading, traveling, sightseeing (especially Civil War battlefields), and watching various sporting events. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was predeceased by her parents Everett E. Snider and Lula W. Lindsey, her sister Dorothy Snider, her step-father Fred Lindsey, her son Steven DesGroseilliers, her ex-husband Jerry DesGroseilliers, and her husband Don Ambler.
She is survived by her daughter and husband Denise and Jim Britton, her sons and spouses Stan and Elisa (Albo) DesGroseilliers, Rich and Darolyn (Hamlin) DesGroseilliers; a daughter-in-law Stephanie DesGroseilliers. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren Martin and Andrea Lacki, Jonah and Ashley Mooney, Janelle Britton, Julien DesGroseilliers, Jenna DesGroseilliers, Jake DesGroseilliers, Jessica DesGroseilliers, Lily DesGroseilliers, Will DesGroseilliers. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Casey, Lydia, and Brandon.
