John Robert Hines, Jr. of Orlando, Florida passed away during the early morning hours on Saturday, August 6, 2022. He had recently celebrated his 92nd birthday.
Known to family and friends as Bob, he was born in Asheville, NC in 1930 to John Robert Hines, Sr., and his wife Hessie. He spent his formative years in St. Petersburg, FL and spent summers in Black Mountain, NC and Edisto Island, SC. Upon attending Clemson University where he graduated from, he became a lifelong Clemson Tiger fan and a football season ticket holder for over 30 years. He was on the baseball team at Clemson and turned down an offer from the NY Yankees to serve in the Army during the Korean War. He went on to attend Harvard University for graduate school in one of the first computer science programs in the country. He spent his full career working in Data Science for Lockheed Martin in Orlando. Bob is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine, his 4 children, Alice, John, Krista and Justin, and 6 grandchildren, John Robert, Annaliese, Grace, Hailey, Ian and Bradley.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 12, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church in Orlando, FL.
