The Michigan Food Truck Park moved one step closer to realization this week despite one resident suggesting he and his neighborhood, which abuts the park, object to it.
On Monday, August 15, Orlando City Council members approved an annexation for the new park, which will be located at 2207 E. Michigan Street.
During the meeting, a resident who lives along East Jersey Avenue expressed his concern with the properties proximity to his neighborhood.
The park will be located south of East Jersey Avenue.
The resident expressed concerns about increased traffic and noise that would come with the addition of the park.
Commissioner Patty Sheehan disagreed.
“We’ve had other food truck developments that have been fine. They have not had any negative, deleterious effect, and this is on Michigan,” said Sheehan, citing the location along a commercial corridor.
The park was compared to its sister location, Á La Cart, which is located along 609 Irvington Avenue, amidst multiple properties zoned similarly.
After a brief discussion, commissioners voted to approve the ordinance, with District 2 Commissioner Tony Ortiz voting against.
