Charles Joseph Wandlass, 95, of Orlando, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022. He was born to parents Lucy Agnes Sternberger and Charles Earl Wandlass on April 5, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Charles’ parents passed away when he was very young; he grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with his grandparents, Ruby and George Sternberger. Charles joined the Marines on 7/11/1945, he served during World War II., and was honorably discharged as a private first class from Quantico, Virginia on August 28, 1946. Charles owned a Texaco gas station prior to working for the PTC (Philadelphia Transit Corporation).

In 1953 he started working for the United States Government under the Director of Installation Services Facilities Engineering Division of Maintenance and Repair, he received top secret clearance and worked on missile silos during the Cuban missile crisis. He transferred to the Defense Personnel Support Center in South Philadelphia where he retired 35 years later as an Electrical foreman. Charles was a true craftsman, he designed/executed all crafts for their retirement home in the Poconos. He was an avid cross country/down-hill skier. He loved traveling with Mary and being active with his daughter and family. Charles edified every fruit of the Spirit as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Charles met the love of his life Mary Joanne Wandlass in 1962 at the Defense Support Center. They were married on November 27, 1963 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania . They never spent a day apart! Together they raised one child, Valerie Bergeron.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Valerie Bergeron; son-in-love, Grant Bergeron; granddaughter, Jodi Bergeron; granddaughter, Samantha Bergeron; and other extended family and friends.
