Steven Eugene Upp, passed away from complications due to Covid, on August 21, 2022, with his wife and daughter by his side. Steve was born on September 12, 1957, in Marietta, Georgia. When he was eight years old his family moved to Florida. Steve attended Seabreeze High School and spent his younger days as a lifeguard at Daytona Beach, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He attended the University of Florida, and the University of Central Florida, where he graduated with a degree in Journalism. On April 20, 1997, he married Jennie Philpot, and they have one daughter, Summer Upp.
Even though Steve was not born in Florida, he was a true Florida Boy who loved to fish, dive, and spend time on the water with his family and friends. He always had an ever-present smile on his face, a welcoming spirit towards those he met, and a willingness to help those around him. Steve’s kindness touched all those who were lucky enough to meet him.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Clark James Upp, his mother, Marlene Ackermann Upp, and his brother, Scott Anthony Upp. He is survived by his wife, Jennie Upp, his daughter, Summer Upp, his brothers, James “Jimmy” Upp, Chris Upp, and his wife, Anita Upp, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 27th at Pine Castle United Methodist Church on 731 Fairlane Ave, Orlando, Florida 32809 at 2:00 P.M.
