28-year-old man killed in car accident on U.S. 17-92

A 28-year-old Altamonte Springs man was killed after his vehicle struck another on U.S. Highway 17-92.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place near the intersection of U.S. 17-92 and Golden Birch Lane on Saturday, September 3, at around 4 a.m.

The Altamonte Springs man was driving a 2009 Infiniti G37 southbound on U.S. 17-92 on the inside lane, just south of Golden Birch Lane. According to authorities, the vehicle was traveling above the posted speed limit.

A 38-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2012 Ford F-350 with a trailer northbound on U.S. 17-92. As he approached a left turn lane, the Infiniti was still “a reasonable distance away,” according to authorities.

The truck attempted to turn into a driveway and was struck by the Infiniti.

The Altamonte Springs man was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased.

The pickup truck driver was not injured and remained on the scene.
