Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal accident that took place earlier this week on State Road 400 in Polk County after an Orlando driver fell asleep at the wheel.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 19-year-old female from Orlando was killed in the accident, which took place on Tuesday, September 6 at around 6:10 a.m. on State Road 400, near mile marker 26.
During that accident, a Lexus sedan being driven by a 41-year-old Orlando man was traveling eastbound in the center lane when the driver fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle. The Lexus entered the center lane of the highway and collided with the right rear of a Dodge pickup truck before rotating and colliding with a concrete embankment.
The driver of the Lexus, a 41-year-old Orlando man, as well as an 18-year-old man from Orlando and a 23-year-old man from Mississippi, all suffered minor injuries.
