The DeLand Police Department is dispelling rumors about a bomb threat at a middle school that it says was not credible.
On Thursday, September 8, police received reports that a bomb threat was made on social media for DeLand Middle School, which is located at 1400 Aquarius Avenue.
DeLand Police Department officers combed the school grounds and conducted a thorough search before clearing the area of any threats.
“We do not believe that this was a credible threat and we do not believe there is any danger to students at this time,” reads a post from DPD social media.
The incident took place on the same day that Winter Springs Police and school officials dispelled rumors of shots fired at Winter Springs High School. During that incident, a disgruntled student threw a chair that created a loud noise and created confusion.
