The Altamonte Springs Police Department has suspended one of its school resource officers after they were notified that he is currently under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for possible possession of child pornography.
Master Police Officer Steven Selph, who was assigned to Spring Lake Elementary School, has been suspended without pay, pending further investigation by the FDLE related to child pornography.
Although criminal charges have not been filed, FDLE agents executed a search warrant at Selph’s home on Tuesday, September 13.
Selph has served with the Altamonte Springs Police Department for over 13 years. Before taking over as a school resource officer, Selph worked on the department’s Street Crimes Unit.
“The subject of this investigation directly conflicts with the values and mission of the Altamonte Springs Police Department. Our officers will continue to protect and serve the residents of our community with professionalism and transparency throughout this unfortunate process,” reads a statement from ASPD.
