Filomena M. Scuro, 99, of Orlando, FL left this earth to be with the Lord on September 15, 2022.
“Phil”, as she liked to be called, was born on January 19, 1923 in Jersey City, NJ. She was the youngest daughter and the sixth of seven children of Francesco and Theresa (Fragano) Amato. In 1938, she graduated from Snyder High School at the age of fifteen. During her time in the workforce, she was a head bank teller, first for Hudson City Savings in Jersey City, NJ and later at Citizens National Bank in Bergenfield, NJ.
She married her beloved husband Joseph E. Scuro in 1945. They enjoyed 72 years together and had two sons, Joe Jr. and Vincent. Before moving to Orlando in 1992, Phil was a longtime resident of Bergenfield where she belonged to the Contemporary Women’s Club and other service organizations. After moving to Orlando, she and her husband were members of Holy Family Catholic Church and volunteers at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe.
Phil is survived by her son, Vincent Scuro and his wife, Tina; her two granddaughters, Alexandra and Elena; and her daughter-in-law, Virginia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband passed away in 2017. A son, Joseph E. Scuro, Jr. predeceased her in 2013.
