The following letter to the editor was shared by 76-year-old Gwen Krieg of St. Cloud:
Why is Orange County dumping all their flood waters into Osceola county. Here is response I got from our congressman Fred Hawkins. I complained earlier on the water problem in east lake TOHO, I got in contact with our Congressman and here is the reply I got:
Orange County is dumping all water on Osceola county. Here is the reply I received We have been working on this all day. We have requested that orange county stop discharging water. We’ve asked them to give Osceola County 48 hours to allow our lakes to drain before sending any more water. South for water management has spoken to orange county and I am in contact with the governors office trying to get them to take action. South Florida water management does issue the permit to orange county. Orange County‘s response so far is they are within the rights of the permit they were granted. I’ve stated just because they are in the right of the permit does not make it right to cause damage to homes that are not in their jurisdiction. This is why I’ve asked the governors to get involved.
This is all Orange County, it is not South Florida Water Management District.
No one, I repeat, no one has come by to check on any of our residents. I am 76 and there are seniors on this road. We do not count.
